During a night when Republicans were certainly hoping to take down more Democrats, there was one takedown that has to be especially sweet.
That’s the race in New York where the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chair Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) just lost to Mike Lawler. Maloney has conceded, with 95% of the vote counted.
It was a historical loss — Maloney became the first Democrat Committee chair to lose in four decades, since 1980.
Maloney was a powerful Democrat, responsible for disbursing tens of millions in campaign funds to his fellow Democrats, and who had hoped to cash in those favors to compete for the job of Democrat leader, with the expected retirement of Nancy Pelosi.
Those ambitions have been nuked.
And — given the fairly close vote totals — it was likely Maloney’s own arrogance that did him in…
As we previously reported, Maloney — a multi-millionaire who has never worked a day in his life outside of politics — recently told Americans struggling with Joe Biden’s runaway inflation to simply consider eating more foods like “Chef Boyardee.”
His opponent Mike Lawler took full advantage of this smug gaffe…
Maloney also refused to acknowledge that Democrats or Joe Biden had done anything wrong to cause this runaway inflation…
As the chart below makes clear, Biden hasn’t fought inflation, as Maloney absurdly claimed — there WAS no inflation before he came into office….and it immediately skyrocketed after his disastrous restrictions on energy production, which increased the price of transportation, fuel and other goods and services...
His message apparently did not resonate with the traditionally-Democrat voters of the 17th district of New York, who sent him packing, putting the excellent conservative Lawler in his place.
