Former Detroit Lions and XFL linebacker Jessie Lemonier ‘died suddenly’ on Thursday, the team confirmed. He was 25.

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of former Detroit Lion Jessie Lemonier,” the Lions said in a statement.

“Jessie was a model teammate and wonderful young man who is gone far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

The details surrounding his death have not been made public.

ESPN reported:

Lemonier appeared in seven games with the Lions during the 2021 season, finishing with 15 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals last summer and registered a sack in a preseason game but was later released during training camp. He was drafted by the XFL’s Arlington Renegades in November.

His agent, Drew Smith of DEC Management, told ESPN that Lemonier and his girlfriend were expecting a child.

Smith said he was not aware of any health problems with Lemonier, and former teammates said he was in ‘elite’ condition and good health, and excited for the coming 2023 season.

Lemonier, a native of Hialeah, Florida, originally signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Liberty in 2020. He saw action in six games, making two tackles.

One fan Tweeted:

RIP. I was at the game last year when he sacked Rodgers. Sending prayers.

Others were stunned, and wanting answers:

Lemonier is just the latest in a string of unexplained, ‘sudden’ dealths of young people – particularly athletes – in the past year, with many speculated the Covid vaccines are to blame.

Jordan Brister, 17, a high school junior died on Jan. 3 when he experienced sudden cardiac arrest. He was found inside one of the school’s bathrooms after gym class.

Another student. Ashari Hughes, just 16, died during a flag football game at school, a “sudden cardiac death” just one day before Brister died.

And on January 10, Air Force Academy cadet Hunter Brown, 21 – a standout athlete on the Air Force football team – suddenly collapsed died after he collapsed while walking to class.

All three had been fully vaccinated. We have not yet confirmed whether NFL player Lemonier had been, although the NFL has said that 95% of all players were vaccinated as of February 2022.

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has called for a House Republican investigation into the massive surge in young deaths.

  1. Good post. I learn one thing tougher on completely different blogs everyday. It would always be stimulating to read content material from other writers and follow slightly one thing from their store. I’d prefer to make use of some with the content material on my weblog whether or not you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a hyperlink in your web blog. Thanks for sharing.
